The Intersection is designed as both functional seating and an object of presence. Exploring where materials, structure, and form meet.
Design Elements
Raw cast concrete base
Wooden seat is mixed with a concrete section to add a transition between the two materials
“Floating” wooden seat adds a weightless feel to a very heavy object
Metal rods are used to suspend the wood adding to the industrial feel
Process.
This one is still a work in progress, at least it is in my eyes. Probably always will be… The seat design was a lot of fun, a realized that there wasn’t a wrong way to go. A collection with different seat designs would be awesome to complete in the future
Currently this chair exists as a mini scale model but I have plans in the near future make it full scale. Enjoy the process!
